I'm working on a pet project that takes place in a fictional country in the 1600s. For genre labeling purposes, since the setting is fictional, is that enough to classify it as a fantasy story? I'm…Continue

It's call science fiction, not religion fiction, but I've seen divine references used to good effect if used as a possibility, not an edict. Continue

Comment by Garry L. Hickman, M.Div. on February 27, 2012 at 11:52am Favorite creature? I came up with a race and spent an enjoyable evening "fleshing them out" with two other writers. The race was the Felaurii (sing., Felaur). These creatures stood anywhere from 2 to 2.5 feet tall. To visualize the form, think of a centaur, but rather than equine-based, the Felaurii are based on different types of cats, such as ocelots, tigers, domestic, and others. There are light suggestions of man in their faces, but by and large, the visage is feline.
They are incredibly agile, swift, graceful -- and thoroughly evil. Don't get too close to the creatures, though, they secrete an oderless "gas" that, within a 15 foot range, makes the person under its influence look upon the Felaur as the most beautiful, the most desirable, creature(s) in existence.

I have no idea if this site is well-used, or will become something well-used, but I signed up on it: http://www.magicappreciationtour.com/Default.aspx
It's a "blog tour" for authors who write fantasy that deals with magic. They promote self-published authors, small press, etc. I suppose it's one of those things where the more people know about it, the more people use it. So register yourself and your books!
Hi everyone! In promoting my self-published book The Binding I am offering a free ebook download on Smashwords (Coupon no. LA38P). The offer expires 02/29/2012.

Comment by Heather Montford on February 5, 2012 at 7:08pm HI! My name is Heather and i'm new to the group - i am so happy to find a fantasy group on here finally. Very nearly everything I write is fantasy, including, mostly, human sized faeries or elves, or in the case of two or three books in planning, both.

Hello everyone! I'm a new self-published author trying to get my book out there. The book is call The Binding and I'll list the links below. I would appreciate it if you'd visit my sites and like them. The Binding is a fictional story and I wrote it for the mere fun of it. Little did I know that I would come to love the characters, especially Tharin and Lily, which the story is about. I love it and I hope you enjoy it.

Comment by Martha Bourke on December 31, 2011 at 8:35am Hi everyone. I'm Martha. I'm currently working on a fantasy series. The first book comes out in a couple of weeks. It's a mixture of fantasy and mythology, which is very typical of what I write. It's YA and the characters inhabit our world, though there are magical elements that exist there.
Comment by Tony H Leather on December 31, 2011 at 5:49am Check out my author page at amazon I have now published two short story collections, the first getting three 5-star ratings so far, the second only just released before Christmas, but in the sci-fi genre, and I think better than the first one.
