Hello all. Just joining this group today and enjoyed looking through the previous discussions.

Can we talk about submission guidelines? Specifically, "No poetry."

What are your thoughts?

If a publisher says "No Poetry", they mean it. But, there are countless loopholes. For instance, if Nike sponsors a poetry book by kids who write poems about their Nike Sneakers, the "No Poetry" sign won't apply, because the book becomes about Nike's marketing power, not about poetry per se.

I'm wondering if my work might be in loophole territory. The social media response seems to indicate that my work (Suburban Haiku) is perceived as humor for moms between the ages of 30 and 45.

To draw a parallel to a published work, are Zombie Haiku books poetry?
