I am very sensitive to spirit and energy. I don't always see things, which I believe is a bit of a blessing. I experience spirit physically like static electricity. I can walk into a room and it feels as if I am surrounded by spider webs. Then if I tune in I can sometimes see the spirit and communicate with it. It is kinda spooky but I am used to it. Now that I have revealed the truth of my spookiness, perhaps you will share yours.

Permalink Reply by Joan Adamak on July 6, 2012 at 3:45pm It is my understanding that a "spirit" does not have a human soul where ghosts do. A spirit could be an angel, or an energy with intelligence but not a human soul. The Holy Ghost? Well that would have different answers depending on the religion interpreting such. So it is with other religions like Islam, Hinduism, etc.
Permalink Reply by Margaret Sue Turner Wright on July 6, 2012 at 4:33pm It is an interesting question to decide whether a being that one experiences from the world of Spirit in the earthly point of view is a ghost, a spirit, an angel or a spiritual happening. Readith, from what you just described, it sounds to me like you had both a spiritual happening and also the materialization of a Spirit being into your physical awareness.
Regarding the semantic problem between using the word for a 'spirit' or a 'ghost', I understand a 'ghost' as defined by dictionaries to be an individual or being whose essence has gone whereas 'a' 'spirit' is a being which is still filled with Spirit or Soul [spirit and soul used interchangeably] .
However, Helena Blavatsky founder of Theosophy has much more to say about the authenticity of certain so called ‘spirits’ whom she later classified as simply shells, or ghosts. That book is The Mahatma Letters, by fellow Theosophist, A.P. Sinnett.

Honestly, I feel it is up to the individual to define for themselves what a spirit is. Your question does remind me I should have clarified what I was communicating when using the word "spirit". For me, spirit is the term for those who have passed or are in between corporeal forms and those who have always been in the spirit form. I believe we are all spiritual energy at our core, regardless of form. I appologize for failing to define my word choice earlier.

Permalink Reply by Katherine E. Hinkson on July 6, 2012 at 10:47pm I'd freak out if I felt spider webs everytime I ran into a a spirit. (I'm terrified of spiders) I don't mind the spirits shutting off my electronics to let me know they are around or frightening my cats. (Grandma Erma). I enjoy her visits, putting one of my cats on the organ bench to intice her visits. The cats would run from the room and I'd smell 'Persian Wood' perfume. I know Grandma Erma was visiting. We would sit and talk and she would let me know that she's doing okay and that I'm doing right too.
Permalink Reply by Sondra Sneed on July 6, 2012 at 11:13pm I have had two instances at our house. One early morning about 5am, I heard a young boy's voice coming down the hall toward our bedroom, "Dad? Dad?" It almost sounded like Cody who was about 12 at the time, but he was sound asleep in his room when I heard it. Then my husband heard something that he said sounded like an echo of a boy's voice as he was leaving for work around 5:45 am. The most recent bit of strange came when I was sleeping alone because my husband was out of town. About 4 am I was startled awake by the sound of someone crossing our back patio and an eerily cheerful, disembodied whistle moved along from one end of the patio to behind the house. I got up to look outside and there was absolutely nothing, no one there. It was very unnerving.
I'm not particularly sensitive to ghosts or spirits, but my grandfather was. He used to burn candles when he worked in the garage "to keep the evil spirits away," he'd say. My grandmother, who I've heard say to him, "I don't see no spirits," saw my deceased grandfather sit at the edge of her bed.

Having a good background in biochemistry, molecular biology, and genetics helps understand these things from another perspective. You could take some of these experiences, break them down, and develop a compelling tale.

Permalink Reply by Peter Kraft on July 9, 2012 at 4:32pm Jeff, Eusitce was revived, and is doing just fine. Royalties would have gone to his family, or in this case the rights owner(s). Cute question though-I was going to toss you a smart-ass answer that he was paid in phantom dollars, but...what the hey?
