Candy, are you saying that you charge a flat fee no matter what the length of the book is?

Hi Marilyn, Welcome to the sight. I wish you all the luck in the world with  your book.  It is not easy to write a whole book of stuff that you make up in your mind.  I also write fiction.  Check out my blog:   http://maryfirmin.blogspot.com   I will also check out yours.   All the best, Mary Firmin

Hi Friends, I am new on the site and trying to get my bearings.  I have self-published with iUniverse a mystery/thriller called Deadly Pleasures. I have had great reviews from Kirkus, Blueink, and a 5 Star rating from Clarion.  Whatever all that means! DEADLY PLEASURES is available at Amazon, B&N and on Kindle.

Thanks for the info Michael. I'll check it out. BTW, I like your comment about the blood thing and yes, we need some humor at times on a comment wall.

Now look what I have started early on with my reference to my copy-editors "blood" marks on my manuscript. I find all of your comments both relevant and amusing. We could all use a little humor in our lives. And you are correct, Jan, once we have made the appropriate corrections, our works will hopefully be enjoyed by more readers...and seen as the work of a professional writer. So, to the professional editors out there, let the blood flow.

I say "bring on the blood" for my work because it means the manuscript will entertain more readers!!! And yes - it has taken me many years to love the sight of blood!!!

Love the comment about Teal could be blood in a Sci Fi or Speculative Fiction manuscript!!!

Pat, you could consider my copy-editor, as I am sure that others on this site will endorse their's as well. It comes down to who you are comfortable working with...and the hourly rate, of course. Just for example purposes, my 117,000 word novel cost me $900...and well worth it. Her name is Diane Alexander, long time copy editor, retired now, who works from home. Warning: she has a good sense of humor and will answer a million and one questions after you get the manuscript back. She will make a lot of side comments as she goes along to help improve your memoir.
