Permalink Reply by Tom Flood on June 4, 2012 at 7:12pm There were some interesting stats floating around a week or so ago (maybe the Huff Post?) on the penetration of e-readers to different age groups and those groups responses. Surprisingly teens were the least appreciative and middle school and younger the most appreciative. Not so surprisingly, teens wanted the machines to do more, be more interactive. In other words they wanted them to be computers and phones, though no doubt they wouldn't be so keen to pay for that extra technology in an e-reader. They want Ipads/phones or whatever supersedes them. So according to The Huff, you're right, Aya!
Permalink Reply by Sangay Glass on June 4, 2012 at 10:18pm My 18yo has read whole series on her iPhone because it was only available there "bootleg", but she still prefers a book. She will not pay for anything she finds online for free, even if it is bootlegged and poor quality.
So, this might be useful.
My 16-year-old niece has a Kobo and likes the fact that e-books are cheaper, but she prefers holding a book so that she can see how much she's read and how much more there is to go. Since I'm thinking of e-pubbing my next book, I asked her if her friends prefer e-books to actual books and she said they don't like to read.
Permalink Reply by denisealicea on June 11, 2012 at 8:40pm According to one study I read, it's said the market for ebooks and technology is about 32%. It's growing. It all comes down to the person itself. I prefer ebooks, but I love print books too.
