Book Lovers

Readers keep publishing alive. Writers are also notorious bibliophiles. This is a group for those people who can't stand the thought of moving because they have too many books to pack. This is a great place to share your favorite books and to engage in discussion about them. We are always looking for good book recommendations.

I'm waiting for John Gilstrap's newest book Damage Control to come out the fifth of June. John's stories are always fun for me to read. John is a longtime AOL Writers Club friend & I recommended him to Midwest Writers Workshop (which he now attends more often than I do! LOL) to preorder go to  http://www.amazon.com/Damage-Control-Jonathan-Grave-Thriller/dp/078...

I'm currently reading Loser's Town by Daniel Depp. Has anyone read it? I'm about half-way through and having trouble staying away, but have other work to do. It's great to read a book that keeps pulling me back. No spoilers here, but if you like PI books, try this one!

A serial killer is on the loose in Westwood.

Is it someone close to Ann?

With all the "mixed messages" she's been getting, she can't be sure it's not.

I believe when we write - we create. Where the spark of creation comes from I believe is G-d. So when I read a book which changes my life I think it might just be a journey G-d wants me to travel for some reason.

I remember reading the book Black Like Me. The pain the black people he stayed with when he revealed he really was a white man was immense. I have carried that with me for years. It is one of the reason I fight to be REAL and TRUTHFUL.

So true, Jeff. :-) Just like you mentioned in a recent post: "I began to respect that books could be windows to feelings and events that were beyond my own experience, and could help me better understand why we are who we are."

Trudy, This happens all the time. Prescriptive non-fiction books can go through us like white bread, but a well told story can nourish us for our entire lives. Jeff Herman
