Presumably, you'll save living entities first. Then what?

Permalink Reply by Jeanne Alford on April 12, 2012 at 3:00pm Seriously, we should all have a plan. I live too close to the neighborhood in San Bruno that explode from a PG&E gas leak. Very tragic.
It reminded me of my father-in-law who kept two suitcases in the front closet, one with clothes and essentials and one with all the photos he wanted to save.
Writers should consider signing up for free space with Box.net or Dropbox, even Google docs is good. Therefore you're babies will be "in the cloud" as a back up. My writer friend also sends me files to hold onto just in case.
As Jan said, my kid, my dog, my computer and purse.
Everything else is replaceable.
Permalink Reply by Jan Lazo-Davis on April 12, 2012 at 3:07pm I have dropbox and storage on my hosting site dreamhost. Great mention!!!
Permalink Reply by Trudy Den Hoed on April 12, 2012 at 4:51pm Which do you like better - box.net or dropbox? Which one is more secure? :-)
Permalink Reply by Jeanne Alford on April 12, 2012 at 4:55pm My friends in IT like the terms and conditions at Box.net. Dropbox has some language about content ownership. that said, my experience is that Dropbox is easier to use. I'd just be sure to have copyright designations on all your drafts.
Full disclosure: I'm just learning about Box.net and it may be easy to use, so check it out. I do trust my IT friends.

Permalink Reply by Jana Lynn Shellman on April 12, 2012 at 3:00pm My laptop, cell phone & purse (after the cat of course), if still time I'd grab my lockbox where I keep disks of all my old manuscripts for unpublished books.
Permalink Reply by Kemberlee Shortland on April 12, 2012 at 5:00pm My carry box with family photos, my laptop, my purse. Pretty much in that order. The husband would have the dogs. And really, I keep my work on a remote server so the laptop is a luxury. My purse has my credit cards, medication and Kindle. The only real things that can't be replaced are the photos, but even still, they're scanned and stored remotely too. I just hope the remote place doesn't burn down! ;-) I guess I'll be buying a portable hard drive to back all that stuff onto and put in my purse too! So, grab my purse?? It's got everything in it, or will after this!
Permalink Reply by Joe Frey on April 12, 2012 at 8:27pm my sentry safe; my flashdrives and my most important baseball card collection (all already contained and situated in one convenient box!)
Permalink Reply by Haseena Patel on April 14, 2012 at 5:10pm I'd definitely save my laptop (my writing is on there), my flash drive and my box full of letters (they include letters written to me since I was 6 years old!).
Permalink Reply by Janet Starr Hull on May 2, 2012 at 1:35pm Definitely my laptop. Like most of the other comments, all my writing is on there. Dropbox is a brilliant idea, though.
Permalink Reply by Jackie Paulson on May 13, 2012 at 4:34pm I have to admit that I would grab my two cats purse and run...books..as much as I love them, Too bad.
